Personality: Shouko, as the class representative of Class A at Fumizuki Academy means that she's the top student in her entire grade. So obviously she's a very bright and intelligent girl, at least when it comes to book smarts. She's one of the people that has the fortunate ability to be able to remember everything that she sees or hears. So naturally, she scores incredibly high on her tests thanks to this.
One of the more obvious things that people can see about her is that she's absolutely infatuated with one of her classmates, Yuuji Sakamoto. As many young children do, she said that she was going to marry him when she gets older. However, she's one that took this statement to the absolute extreme. She's incredibly overprotective of her childhood friend, to the point where she pokes his eyes if he ever thinks of looking at another girl! A lot of the “dates” that the two go on the series are seen as horribly one-sided, as you mainly see Shouko pushing her ambitions and dreams onto the other. On their first date she shows her overprotective and obsessive feelings by forcing the other to stay through two showings of a four hour movie, with the use of a taser in case he ran away. She even prepares a marriage contract several times.
Shouko is a natural beauty, and many people thought that she was a lesbian at first because she didn't show much interest in guys around the school. This stems from the fact that she can actually be rather blunt and distant in personality. She doesn't necessarily pay a lot of attention to you unless you show her something that greatly interests her. The only reason that she hung out with the main group of the series is because she wanted to hang around Yuuji, and that part of her jealous and overprotective side wanted to make sure that he didn't do anything else with the other girls. Even then, it was often to see that she gave one word responses.
Although she has rather off ways of showing it at times, she really does care about the people that she loves. If you're a friend of hers, she will appreciate your camaraderie to the fullest extent that she can. This is the reason that she's so infatuated with Yuuji, it's because that he was the first real friend that she could ever call her own. Obviously she'd never go to her obsessive tendencies with any other of her friends, but the sentiment would be shown through different ways. A gift here or there, different things for the people that she truly cared about.
She actually is a lot more sensitive then people give her credit for, when it comes to the things she care about deeply. When she was a little girl, she actually stood up for her close friend Yuuji when a bunch of older students were going to deface all of his stuff. You can also see it when a couple openly mock her dream to get married to her friend. She ran out of the room due to embarrassment. Even in the end, when Yuuji tells her that it isn't a smart idea and that she misplaced her feelings, she firmly believes that she kept them in the right place.

From my knowledge, we're supposed to train these little beasts so that we can battle them against each other. And that we're going on a journey around this place?
[Next to her, a pichu starts to play around. Shouko smiles a bit, before returning to her very important video.]
Is is true that we go home after collecting all the badges? I heard that might be the case.
[Her tone lightens after the question. It's almost hard to believe the same girl, she even started blushing.]
Because... my fiance, Yuuji, is waiting for me back home.
Third Person Sample: "Hey, we locked eyes, we need to battle!" The youngster cried out froim hiding behind a tree. Shouko wasn't really concerned about him, but she supposed that it would be some quick entertainment for her and her pichu. She wasn`t really doing much of anything today anyways.
"Alright Pichu, let`s go." She said. She sounded far more bored than anything.

"Girls aren`t supposed to be good at battling!" He cried as he ran off towards the town. What was he really expecting though? When you fight a trainer who has a Pichu with a Pidgey, there`s really only one way the battle is going to end. How could someone think that they can take on who was clearly superior? The entire notion of it was childish. There`s no way to get past what is laid in front of you, not unless you`re-
Shouko stopped mid-stride. Yuuji. He had come so close to being able to flip the entire school upsidedown. Her Pichu looked back up at her. What could be the matter? Its usually confident trainer had stopped in the middle of the road, right when they were in the middle of a winning streak.
"Yuuji...". She quickened her pace. All she wanted to do was to go back home and see him, that`s the whole reason that she started this journey that everybody was so into. You win all the badges, you go back home. It was simple, and she knew that she could do it. She was better than half the trainers that set out on this journey. She was sure that in soon time, she`d be back home with everybody else, in stead of here beating all of these silly youngsters and lasses.
She brought Pichu back into its pokeball. The poor thing was falling behind her pace. Even though her resolve was firmer than ever, she at least wouldn`t put all the rest of these trainers in such a negative light. After all, she`s seen first hand that even the dumbest of idiots can reach some of the highest heights.
